Bring It to Life!

Stereotypes are, unfortunately, a part of life, especially in a society with so many different kinds of people. This chapter wrestles with Jewish stereotypes such as being cheap, athletically challenged, nerdy, and media-controlling, but also what happens when those stereotypes are taken to a more extreme level: that is, anti-Semitism. Can we laugh at stereotypes? What about anti-Semitism? How about Cartman dressed up like Hitler, screaming in German, and worshipping Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ? How can we live with stereotypes and anti-Semitism in modern day America? These issues are all presented and explored in chapter 9.

Chapter Sections: The Arch-Stereotype; O’ Ye Covetous Jew; Jew-Ethics and Jew-Gold; Mendoza - Exception or Rule?; All the Media in the Universe – That’s a lot of Power; Sticks and Stones Will Break My Bones - Seriously, Don’t Do That, It Hurts!; Some Lebensraum for Cartman.
